The book was published on 23 October 2025 by David Fickling Books in association with Penguin Random House and Alfred A. Knopf. The Rose Field is set directly after The Secret Commonwealth, published in 2019.

What about an end?

It could have been more than 4 if the ending wasn't such an anticlimax leaving so much still to be worked out. It feels like pullman has not yet made up his mind completely on what he's going to say with the book theme or maybe he still wants to write about our lyra and then others so it's just a goodbye... who knows... maybe we have to follow the Dust
