A great perspective on life in Big Sur from a master storyteller

A pretty delightful read, this is an autobiographical description of life on Big Sur, where Henry Miller lived for eighteen years. Having been there, I know it's lovely, wild and woolly. Reading descriptions of the people who eeked out an existence in that rather unforgiving environment seventy years ago was entertaining, and Miller's descriptions of his struggles to be creative when so many other things pulled him this way and that was relatable. Finally, his character study of Conrad Moricand, a Swiss friend from his Paris days, was something else.
