Robert Silverberg's eagerly awaited epic, his first novel in some years, is the grand, romantic saga of a prince and his heroic quest to reclaim his birthright and his realm.
Unable to remember his past and not caring much about his future, Valentine finds himself on the outskirts of the legendary city of Pidruid on the immense planet of Majipoor. Joining a band of four-armed jugglers and a few humans, he sets out with the troop on an epic journey, performing in strange and wonderful cities before enraptured audiences. It is one of his companions, the beautiful Carabella, who holds him close as uneasy dreams unsettle his sleep, and when the dreams become even more threatening it is another companion, a mystic dwarf, who helps him solve the mystery of who he is and from whence he came.
Accompanied by a growing host of friends and supporters, Valentine's quest becomes an exciting pilgrimage across the vast continents and seas of Majipoor to the great castle of the Coronal, where he must face the ultimate test to regain what is right- fully his.
