Great start to the Vorkosigan Saga (Reading order #1 chronologically)
5 stelle
This is a great start to this sci-fi series. Given how it was written between 1982 and 1999, it's so well written and so progressive for it's time.
I think the character Bothari inspired Amos from The Expanse.
The setting is an interstellar/intergalactic human civilization which has fragmented into human factions such as Escobar, Betans (part of the galactic collective) and others like Barrayar that aren't quite integrated with them and are considerably more savage.
It's an exploration of a Betan woman finding how to live in Barrayar civilization which leads her to see it's faults readily, but over time also see the faults in the way Betans do things.
